On Saturday 29th October we helped concerned Camps Bay residents make their seaside splendour that little bit more special.

The last Saturday of every month sees the Camps Bay Clean team, headed by Chris von Ulmenstein, issued with bags to go and collect the things that don’t end up in bins. This week there were 34 volunteers who collected 30 bags of litter.

Cigarette butts, bottle tops and straws (not all of them biodegradable) are by far the most numerous items, although there are plenty of recyclables and compostables too.

Clearer Conscience donated a prize of a food waste bin, compostable bags and three months free collections. The winning family collected 6 bags of litter.
